So on Saturday, Clint, Bonnie, and I took a two hour trip down to Gerald, MO. Why, do you ask? Well, Bonnie had a date with her boyfriend. Hmmm, but we paid for him so maybe we'll just call him an escort. Whatever, he was a stud! Literally. I had been e-mailing and calling the owner for about 3 weeks getting this arranged.
When we got there, the owner didn't match the person I had pictured in my mind to match the voice on the phone (but do they ever, really?). She was incredibly nice and her husband and Clint got along great. Both of the owners are avid coon hunters so Clint was in hog (or coon??) heaven! The stud, Jake, was one of the best looking dogs I had ever seen! If I could have, I would have taken him home right then, even if he wasn't a super-star hunter (which he is). He and Bonnie share a lot of the same looks.
The owners kept complimenting Bonnie's looks and saying that if we put her in benchshows, she could win big. And they were enthusiastic about it. So maybe, I'll work a little harder with her on the bench. I felt like they just told me my daughter (future, unborn, no I'm not pregnant) could win Miss America. So proud!
Then, Bonnie and Jake had to..ummm... do it. I'm not a prude, but that was weird. There was no privacy and we were all kind of cheering them along. Finally it happened. Ewww, gross, enough about that!
Here's a little more about Jake:
His father was a record breaking cash prize winner. We got to see two litters that he fathered and their ears are super long! The three week old pups had ears that were about 1 1/2 times the length of Bonnie's last litter!
And even though I made Clint swear no more dogs until we get a kennel built, I said it would be a shame not to keep a female out of this cross because they are going to be amazing looking and hunting hounds! I may regret that statement somewhere around July.
She wasn't so Scary.
