When you're pregnant, everyone wants to see how the bump is progressing. I can't blame them, it's pretty cool! One of my friends requested a recent bump pic today. My weekly pics are on my camera at home so I had to figure out how to take a selfie with the bump in the photo.
My problem was that I have an issue with a lot of selfies.
First of all, I don't care to see the phone in the photo. It never looks natural. I also think it comes off as a little juvenile because teens love it too much. So here are what I consider the worst selfie offenders:
1. The selfie in the public restroom. Why oh why are you taking a pic in a public restroom? Even if it's clean, it's odd.
2. The selfie in your bathroom mirror with a dirty sink and background. I don't care if you're messy, but do you really want all of Facebook to see how cluttered and filthy your bathroom sink is?
3. The outfit of the day selfie. We all have that friend who takes a photo of their outfit every day. I'm ok with that. I have a friend who has a very successful business by blogging about her outfits. But she doesn't take her photos with a phone in her mirror. She uses the self timer and probably a tripod. And it looks great! She does not get in front of her mirror, strike her outfit pose, and take the picture with the awkward phone placement.
Due to my prejudices of the in the mirror selfie, I have to use a tripod and a timer to take my maternity photos. And I had to hunt down a teacher to help me with my bump picture today. Just to keep me sane.
She wasn't so Scary.
